Tom Ealy, new Encompass Insurance president, joined the company in September. He’s
responsible for leading an organization serving nearly 3,300 Encompass appointed agencies.

A. I’ve learned that many of our Encompass agencies still consider our core product offering to
be market-leading, and our claim service to be second to none. I’ve also learned that Encompass
employees have a love affair with their company. Their passion, energy and acumen give me supreme
confidence in our ability to be an industry leader in the markets we serve.
Q. What do you want to accomplish as leader of Encompass?
A. I want to unleash the company’s potential for greatness, which means transformative growth and
stable profits. To do this, we’ll work hard to occupy more shelf space among the agencies appointed
to sell our product. Our USP package product offers great features and benefits that we know many
Q. Tom, what do you see as the biggest challenge Encompass is facing right now?
A. We need to work daily to gain — and keep — the trust and confidence of our agencies. We’ve
returned to our historically successful core strategy. Now it’s time to execute on what we do well
with greater velocity.
We also want to make Encompass even easier to do business with for our agencies and customers,
from the point of selection through that moment of truth at the time of a claim. Our agencies want our
systems to be faster and easier to navigate. We’re putting in place the enhancements to make writing
and placing business with us more intuitive. For our customers who experience a claim, we have a
96%1 satisfaction rating, but I want to make it even higher.
Q. Tom, what makes the Encompass package policy so attractive?
A. With the Encompass USP, customers have just one agent, one insurer, one policy, one renewal date,
one bill and one deductible in the event of a single incident, which damages more than one category of
covered property. And, because the policy renews annually (rather than every six months like most auto
policies), it gives our agencies the opportunity for better retention.
Q. What are the best features of the Encompass package policy?
A. There are so many! Depending upon the level of coverage they choose — Elite, Deluxe or Special2 —
customers can get features such as enhanced home replacement cost coverage, enhanced additional
living expense protection, sewer and drain backup coverage, coverage for fine arts, auto accident
forgiveness, and more.
Q. What would you say to independent agents about Encompass and the Universal Security
A. To our Encompass agencies, I’d say thanks for placing business with us, but we want even more.
